Spelling Bee

Much to Sydney's chagrin, she earned a spot in the school spelling bee. After weeks of not studying, she participated in the bee today. After weeks of knowing about it-her mother failed to bring a camera. (In my own defense-I was a judge, so it probably wouldn't have been appropriate to be snapping pictures of my daughter. . .) Anyway, she did well. Not the first one out, and not the last one in. Just about perfect for her tastes.

Speaking of taste-she got out on boysenberry.

that's a good word to get out on. Abbie got out on bagel. She eats them all the time. Go figure she coudln't spell it? oh well, saves us a trip to whereever the next level is, right?? :o)

She did great, though.

GO Syd! Levi was only an alternate (Sp?) this year. SO glad too. I wasn't much in the mood to go this year. Levi did love it last year though.

I was just shocked that TWO of my boys made it to the spelling bee. It's a good thing there isn't a grade point average requirement! They also both got out on the same word, opera. By the way, I would have missed the same word Syd did. I would have spelled it boisenberry.

Good for Syd! Brynna's school did it and she went out on Keeshond-her first word-and one that my spell check didn't even know!! She found this particularly annoying because everyone else in the group got words like icicle and mayonnaise, but she passed the written so she heads to district next week. I'm sure she'll go out, but I'm hoping it's not the first word this time. :)
