My Lucky Day

Whooohooooo!

I didn't draw out for any hunts this year! Every year, Ryan puts me in for a hunt or two in hopes that I will share his love of the sport.

It hasn't worked. . .

Bless his heart, I do try. But really, hiking around in camo just doesn't do it for me. Truth be told, I think that girls who hunt are pretty dang tough. I'd love to be one of them. But I just don't have it. I have no problem camping. Short hikes are OK. But I just don't have the attention span for hour upon hour of fruitless searching and hunting.

The whole processes of hunting and scouting and hiking and looking and walking and stalking are deeply satisfying to Ryan. Actually killing something is just icing on the cake. Me, I'm lazy. I just want to shoot something big, get my picture taken with it and head back into Arby's by lunchtime. Yeah, I kinda have a rough time with fishing too.

So, this year I have hit the jackpot. I get brownie points for letting him put me in for hunts, but "dang" I guess I just won't be able to hunt this year. "Shucks".

As a bonus, Ryan, Cade and Syd all got elk hunts. Lauren and I are just going to plan a trip to Disneyland...

I had to laugh when I read this post -- not being much of a hunter myself. I hope you get some nice quiet days while everyone else is gone -- but Disneyland would be nice with only one to keep track of...and a lot cheaper!

Oh & I liked your Route 66 post!

I'm with you sista! I tried the hunting thing not long after I was married, embracing the theory "if you can't beat them, join them." I will NEVER do that again. Can you say BOOORING! I sincerely believe that I can accomplish more laying in bed all day. Way to be a good sport though!

LOL!!! This is the first year I've allowed Boyd to put me in for the draw. I think secretly he hopes I'll draw, but when it comes time to shoot-he'll grab the gun from me and shoot it himself. I think that's what he really wants! The closest I get is cooking for 20 hunters week after week in the fall and that's ENOUGH!!!

I am right tehre with you on the hunting. Scott puts me in too b/c women have a better chance of getting drawn (Ha ha) The first year too 10 minutes, my hair wasn't dry. I was fooled. The next year we hiked for a year out east of town. DYING cold and sore. The next year, 6 months preggers. Think of that!. My meat freezer is empty. I am cleaning it out and turning off until more meat comes to our back door, lies, down, and we shoot it.
