(Almost)David and Goliath

After winning their first round state game (a feat that hasn't happened in recent memory) the boys' basketball team took on Precision Prep. Here is Cade next to the Goliath of a player that he had to guard. It was a rough game. . . Cade later admitted that the emotions were a lot more like the "I'll kill you" mindset of a football game...

This is my favorite picture I took. KJ was also asked to play #23. What a difference in size! But you couldn't ask for a kid with a bigger heart or stronger drive.

And finally, a picture of Cade after he fouled out with about 3 or 4 minutes to go in the game. He had given it everything he had in him. In appreciation, the crowd gave him a standing ovation as he walked off the court. (And I appreciated the crowd-)

In the end, Goliath won this contest. During the 3rd quarter, Precision had taken about a 30 point lead. But true to these St. Johns boys, they never gave up. They kept fighting back, and in the end, only lost by eight. It was a bittersweet moment.

PS-The girls, on the other hand, kept winning... They will be playing for the State Championship on Thursday. GO GIRLS!

I think it's flat out WRONG these Christian private schools are even allowed in our league. They need to have a league of their own!! p.s. if you saw my post on needing boys names Cade is on top of my list, but I cannot convince Boyd of it. So reading your posts and seeing Cade's name typed out several times, is making me mad Boyd won't agree to it!

Great post - I love the pictures. It is too bad the sling and stone didn't win this time. Bring on baseball!

That's so great!! I have really been wanting to be more supportive of our hs kids but it has really been a drain on the ol' wallet. Good news: I just found out that the school does offer a family pass! Yay, I'm excited for next year. We'll definitely get one. It's so incredible how my kids (especially Jacob) look up to all these boys and girls. I hope they know how they are affecting the younger generation who is watching and waiting for their turn. I'm glad we have good kids like Cade for my kids to look up to.

Those pictures are too funny! It was way fun watching thos boys guard that giant! I was laughing when KJ was boxing him out under the basket one time! That kid had to be in his twenties!
Yay for baseball season now!
